Master bedroom

My master bedroom area is the first room in the house to get painted and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Unfortunately there’s been so much going on that I never got around to taking a before pic of the color, but trust me when I say it was an awful dark blue! It still amazes me what a fresh coat of paint can do to transform a room…

The blue gray green color is so soothing. I plan to change the carpet at some point to seagrass or sisal but it’s not first on my list of things to do.

I love the mix of the more contemporary Kelly Wearstler pillows with the antique tapestry pillow. I purchased a huge tapestry remnant on Ruby Lane & made several pillows out of it myself for a fraction of what it would cost to buy these pillows

The art is a contemporary abstract landscape by artist Mone’ Musel which I purchased online. Its named ” In memory of trees” & if you study it closely you can see a winding path going through the center that fades into the background with trees on either side.You can check out her website here and look under ‘meditational’ for similar paintings

These two paintings are by artist M. Novak . He sells his pieces at the Georgetown Flea market for a steal!

This cozy little sitting area/ tv room is my favorite place to relax in the mornings and blog. It’s surrounded by windows & is so bright and cheery
I want to install woven wood blinds in all the windows, which will add tons of texture & privacy at night

I’m not going to post any pics of the master bath at this point because it needs a total redo and why ruin a perfectly nice post? Lol! I will do an entire post based on that at a later date.
There’s plenty going on here this week. My electrician is wiring for my chandeliers & sconces, and my painter is coming back Thursday to start painting the rest of the house. Can’t wait!!

Last but not least, I cannot end this post without saying Happy Birthday to my hubby! He asked for a robot ( that cleans the bottom of the pool) so his mom & I went in on one for him. I guess being a “pool boy” has taken its toll on him! It’s a lot of work keeping that pool clean

New deck furniture

Just a quick post to show you my new outdoor dining table & chairs for the deck. The set I had was getting old & the cushions were falling apart, so I was really excited when I saw these. I wanted a different feel from the black metal set I had, there was enough black iron around the deck with the railings. Here’s a pic of what I had…

Love all the texture that they add & they’re very comfy!
Also, I just had my master bedroom painted this weekend :)
You have no idea how happy that made me! Unfortunately, I did not get any before shots of the room but the wall color was a hideous bright blue. I will post pics of it as it looks now but I’m waiting until tomorrow to take them during the day.

Pool cushions are in!

The cushions for the pool furniture came in & I couldn’t wait to get home from work to put them out. They look amazing….& sooo comfy
Not sure how hard these are gonna be to keep clean but I can’t resist the freshness of white!

Living room

It has been one crazy busy week & it has flown by way too quickly! I’m so happy that I had taken the week off work … we managed to get a lot done even with me taking breaks to just hang by the pool ( it was hard not to, the weather was perfect!) and we even had friends over & grilled out a couple times, so I guess that’s pretty good considering it’s only been 10 days since closing.
I thought I’d post a few pics of the living room. I took these pics on move in day so this is exactly how we found it. The living room is the first room you see when you come in the front door. This house has a lot of steps, you walk into a foyer but then go up a few steps into the living room & then step up again into the dining room & rest of the first floor. There are also a lot of wood railings which I will be changing to iron, and I will have the risers painted white to break up all the wood. The French doors lead to the office

The two windows on either side of the fireplace overlook the pool. I obviously need to get a mantel for the fireplace, not to mention remove those globes & curtains. This room has 12′ ceilings & really tall windows so it will be beautiful with curtains hung very high. I have a huge antique French mirror that will fit perfectly over the mantle

This window overlooks the front yard & pond. I love how this house is elevated, almost every window has a pretty view.

Here is the room with some of my furniture placed in it. Can’t wait to repaint, this is definitely not my color scheme. I’m thinking a pale chalky gray for the walls

I have already met with an electrician ( to wire for sconces in the dining room & hang chandeliers & ceiling fans), a painter & a stair guy (to replace the railings)

This is the style I chose. I wanted to keep it simple & classic. The finish I picked is oil rubbed bronze, which will also go on all of the door hardware.
My cushions came in today for the pool furniture but it was raining so we will put them out tomorrow. I will try to post a quick pic if I get a chance! Ok…off to bed..work in the morning

Lots of outdoor spaces

I took more photos today of the outdoor spaces around the house and thought I’d share them….I will post some of the indoor spaces soon, I promise, it’s still such a mess!

Looking back at the house. I want to get either boxwoods or flowers for the pots. That area is covered so it’s mostly shaded…I need to figure out what will do best in there. The French doors lead you into the dining room

The entire rear of the house. The row of windows between the patio & deck is the kitchen on the first floor & the master bedroom sitting area on the second floor.
Today was a gorgeous day weather wise so I let myself enjoy relaxing by the pool. I’ve taken this week off work so it has to feel somewhat like a vacation, right? There’s plenty of time to work on the inside & I promised myself that I would not “work” the summer away with house projects (we’ll see how that goes)
Tomorrow I need to finish putting the bedrooms together. My clothes are still in boxes & I’m trying to hold off putting everything in the closet in hopes that I can have the master bedroom, bath, sitting area & closet painted soon!

We’re in the new house!!

Well, we are finally in the new house & I am thoroughly exhausted but thrilled beyond belief! Nothing was damaged during the move and all my furniture s fitting the new spaces beautifully. I truly feel like we are living in paradise, and everyone who has stopped by has commented that it feels like a resort. Jay and I were walking around Friday after the movers left just going “wow…can’t believe this is our home.” It feels so peaceful here & the property and views are amazing!

Yes…you are seeing correctly! My friends Connie & Steve already stripping wallpaper in the kitchen! LOVE my friends!! The tile floor is gonna go (eventually)… I have wood floors throughout the main level except for the kitchen, my plan is to continue them in here. I don’t like to see a break up of flooring. I love all the transom windows! This house has plenty of those as well as French doors

Jay put the pool chairs together, love the Pottery Barn pillows! Still waiting on the cushions. All this is going on Saturday & we just moved in Friday! We had a houseful of people, and my mom even cooked a meal for everyone! She’s the best! I was able to focus on unloading quite a bit of the kitchen boxes, and putting things in their place

By the end of the day Saturday I took a moment to lay by the pool Ahhhhh

4 days left!!!

There’s only four days left until we move!!! I am so ready! I’m tired of living in a storage bin. The owners were nice enough to allow us to move all our breakables in the basement before closing. I made three trips out there today and took the opportunity to snap some more pics. I’m very happy to see that our grass is coming back, at least it’s looking green now instead of brown!
