Ive been spending a lot more time at home than I’m used to with not being able to work, and I’m realizing just how much I really do love my house. It is literally flooded with sunlight all day and I use all the main rooms ( I follow the sun like a cat!) I’m actually in my husbands office as I type this and the sun is baking my legs…..ahhhhh, a good feeling in the middle of winter.
I had purchased a pair of lamps from Joss and Main and they came in recently. I love them

They look like architectural fragments set on a lucite base. And I especially love the rectangular shade. I saw some very similar lamps here for quite a bit more than what I bought mine for. I have had great luck finding unique & antique items on Joss and Main & One Kings Lane

As a matter of fact, the pair of Swedish Demi lunes were purchased on One Kings Lane If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should. Word of caution….it’s addicting!

Aren’t they the cutest?
I’m feeling like I want curtains in this room but feel torn because I don’t want to cover the wonderful view, and I love all the light coming in!

Not sure how they’d hang with the Demi lunes in the window

Do you think it would look too crowded? I’m picturing the palest shade of gray silk

My first cherub (putti) I ever purchased. This ones not antique but adorable nonetheless.

The boys love the sun too
They take full advantage of every room in this house.
I will post pics of my husbands office soon, made some changes & purchased a small sofa for the window (hense my sunbathing)
Have a great week!

The room is coming along beautifully. I agree that the view and sunlight is most important. My solution would be to hang a beautiful rod a bit above each window on both sides of the fireplace, swag curtain to the left and one to the right. You will get the warmth of the drapes and keep your view and sunlight, yet you could always draw them closed it you like. Doing this you dont have to go sheer, you could add a bit of color. I like the idea of a velvet blue matching the office chair or a dark grey velvet, and have the drapes sweeping the floor a bit.
I absolutely love the new lamps placed on the demilunes! They are the perfect color and style for the room. I think Linda’s idea for the swag to the side of each window is great. I have seen several designers do this…can’t remember if it was Suzanne Kasler or Barbara Barry. Anyway, I have seen it done in many upscale homes online. A very pale, soft gray–not too blue–would work. If you are looking for ready-to-hang, Pottery Barn has a new color in their line of silk dupioni draperies called parchment–something similar to that color would be nice. I haven’t seen it in person but it looks nice online.
Here is a picture of Sally Wheat’s house with the curtains to one side only:

Thanks Linda & Ashlley, I was thinking about doing that with the dapes. Just hanging a panel on the outside edge of the fireplace windows. I have seen Sally Wheats rooms & many others done that way. Seems like it would be a nice compromise. I will check out the PB drapes
The room looks great. I have been going back and forth too because my living room is kind of dark so I don’t want to stop any light from entering the room but, the more images I look at the more I think drapes really add a lot of warmth and coziness to a room.
I agree, that’s why I want to use them myself. They just soften a room and make it cozy
