So in lieu of the party im having on Sunday, I’m trying to decide whether or not to hang curtains in my living room. I ordered the Thai silk in sand from Restoration Hardware. I have just pinned them to the window frame for effect to see if I even want to hang them…, & I still can’t decide!!
Here’s the room again with no curtains…
Here it is with just a single panel on either side of the fireplace…
Here it is with double panels..

This looks way too crowded & messy to me. Of course they will hang better when properly hung on a rod, but you get the idea…
Then there’s the front window…. Do I hang curtains there & risk blocking the view?

Does it look funny to see curtains on the other windows & not that one?

Which is better?
Why is it so easy to do someone else’s house & so difficult to do your own???
I’ve noticed it’s the same when it comes to my hair!
I need to make a decision quick….so I’d love to hear your opinions!!
H~

I like the drapes…they are simple and elegant and I dont think they block the view…they warm the space when I see the the 2 pictures in comparison to each other…XOXO T
I love it with one drape on either side of fireplace and two panels on the other window. It seems to add a soft balance to the room:)
I’m not a fan of the curtains unless you need them for privacy.
Definitely Drapes! To me…it just finishes off the room. I like the single panels, but on ALL windows. However, I don’t think you would go wrong if you elected to go with the double panels either. I think you still get that wonderful sunlight, but the room looks completely dressed! BTW…gorg house! You inspire me!
I like the double panels and nothing on the front window which is its own statement. The single panel looks like you’re trying to save money.
I would do bamboo shades!
Lol! Thanks for all your comments, but this is cracking me up! I think everyone has liked a different option & I was even considering bamboo blinds…so I’m still confused & undecided!
Hang them, hang them! They are just what the room needed. It is the finishing touch to a beautiful room, the curtains are the frosting on the cake.
I can’t believe this post! I am having the same dilemma.I just did my lr and can’t decide on drapes or blinds.I too am using the very neutral pallette.I think the drapes add a nice level of warmth. It’s the same in my room.Mine looks unfinished without something.I say “hang them”.Love the room so far.
By the way,did you order rod pocket or french pleat? I like the look using rings, but not sure what to get.
I ordered the rod pocket.. They are much less expensive. They just look pleated the way I have them pinched

The more comments I read the more confused I am…and it’s not even my house! LOL Love the look of a clean view to the beauty outside. That said I think windows need something simple. Not sure I could leave the one window with nothing on it if I do the others. I have this weird sense of balance.Would it look unfinished or like the drapes/shades are on back order?
I love the drapes. It really softens the space and gives it a finished look. Definitely on all three windows (in my opinion). By the way, i just ordered the roman shade in sand and I love it.
Your house is beautiful.
Gorgeous room. Definitely two panels on the fireplace windows (so pretty and soft) and the other window is up to you. Great work!
First time visiting your blog, but I feel compelled to offer my opinion. The panels look amazing and really finish off the room – I outwardly gasped when I saw them-compared to the shot with no panels.
They will look amazing when you use a proper rod and fluff them around the demi table in the
windows.
I will be back to see the finished result : )
The windows flanking fireplace should have both panels, but I agree the larger window is optional….it almost looks like doors, so it’s fine to be different. Your house is beautiful and in keeping w the European/Parisian feel, I think panels add the finishing touch of luxury!!
Hi. I think we should be friends! My name is Heidi too
But really I totally adore you style and house. I love those awesome windows in your house and the white couches and ZEBRA RUG!! Everything is amazing. I wanna come over. I have the Ecktorp sofa and seriously am still in love with it, didn’t regret white for one single second, even with three little munchkins.
Hi Heidi! Thanks for your comments & it’s always nice to meet another Heidi
I love my white sofas too, I never tire of white

I love the coffee table in the formal living. The sections make it easy to move things around. Do you know who makes it?
Hi Katherine The coffee table is from Lillian August & yes you are right, I love that it comes apart.
