Happy anniversary honey & thanks for taking me here. We learned that its not worth coming at the end of the show (which I thought would be the case) …. It starts Tuesday and it looked pretty wiped out by Saturday. It’s hard to tell from these pics but trust me when I say everything else looked pretty sad.

I’m loving my new floors! But that’s about where the improvements stopped. No fault of my husbands but we ran into a stumbling block…

He started building the upper cabinets, and I wanted him to build a side panel beside the fridge to make it feel more “built in” (like the one on the right where the oven is)

That’s when he gave me the bad news…. The countertop sticks out too far, not giving us any space to add the side panel (boo hoo). I’m planning to replace the counters with marble at some point but i was going to wait a few months (or longer) before tackling that expense. Sooo….this is how our kitchen remains & now I’m forced to look for counters sooner rather than later. I guess that’s how remodeling projects go! Until he finishes building the cabinets, we cant really order the new door fronts either so we are definitely at a stand still…

On another (more positive) note…..look what was opened this weekend

Yay!! I can’t wait to start enjoying the pool & spending more time outdoors! Now if it would only warm up around here long enough to actually feel like spring! What is with this weather, I actually had to turn the heat back on today, it was freezing in the house this morning

And for a bit more exciting news…….I’m going to Brimfield this weekend!! For those of you who don’t know, it’s a huge outdoor antique fair held 3 times a year in Brimfield Mass. It’s probably the largest fair on the east coast. It stretches out for a mile on a 2 lane road with tents set up on both sides as far as you can see. It lasts all week & it would probably take that long to see everything. I couldn’t be more excited!! I’ve only been once over 12 years ago & have always wanted to go back. My husband & I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary the same weekend & he was sweet enough to offer to take me up there. We will be staying at a bed & breakfast literally walking distance to the show. We are due for a little get away & this will be perfect!!!

Im especially liking the combination of metal with an upholstered headboard. What are your thoughts? Do you love metal canopy beds or do you prefer wood?

Kathy told me this knole sofa in the next picture had been in her husbands family for many years and had even made it through hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. It’s now covered in a luscious vintage Fortuny…and the pillows are also Fortuny
Her daughter was lucky enough to have this in her apartment ( before it was recovered )

There was a huge trunk nearby full of her beautiful pillows. Did you know she is good friends with Becky Vizard of Bviz ( also famous for her antique pillows )

I love how you see more grain in them now and of course that they are lighter. We were told not to put any rugs down for at least 2 weeks but I’m not really missing them. We only had a rug in the family room & office anyhow…and the zebra in the living room

Here’s the family room with the furniture back in ( and my new coffee table that I just found this week I cancelled the Lillian August one I had ordered because it was taking far too long to get, plus was ridiculously expensive) I think this one suits the room better

Next outdoor project besides working on our dead grass, weeds & mulching…..is getting the pool open
I’m really not a slave driver…..I promise. I just have a great guy who actually thanked me the other day, in the midst of all his hard work, for helping him become the person that he is & he takes great pride in our home. I feel very blessed & thankful.
All Glory to God, He’s been doing a great work in both of us. This has been a challenging year but also full of blessings.

No more tile in the kitchen!!!!!! I’m so beyond thrilled!

This is the only shot I got of the upstairs, it was too dark to take any pics of the bedroom by the time I got home. Tomorrow they will finish sanding & start applying the clear coat. We should be able to move back in by Saturday
The only regret I have is that we should’ve just gotten the other two bedrooms done at the same time but we needed a place to sleep/live & we were just thinking we could do them at a later date. In hindsight, we could have managed in the basement but oh well. Live & learn!

Well….sort of! The hardwood floor guys have started removing the tile in the kitchen, and we’ve decided to have our existing floors refinished while they are here…….and we’re also having them install wood upstairs in the hallway & master bedroom area yay!!!

So we have kind of moved out….well technically we are still staying in the house but all the furniture from the main floor is now stored in the basement. And all our bedroom furniture is spread out between the other bedrooms, while we are sleeping in one of them..all cramped. Once the finish is applied to the floors, we will be moving into the basement sleeping on sofas…Oh joy. All in the name of pretty new floors…..but I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end.

The tile is proving to be a royal nightmare to remove. Two days into it and its still not all gone. They are breaking it up in small pieces by hand… Bye bye hunter green!

And here they have layed some of the new floor on the upstairs landing. You can see how much lighter it is from the original finish. I’m leaving it natural with a matte sealer. Can’t wait to see it all done! Wish us luck….the house is a dusty mess & my husband is feeling like his nerves are shot. He’s been home all day the past two days listening to hammers & banging non stop, and he has a huge list of projects to get to. As if building the kitchen cabinets weren’t enough, now he has this huge pile of mulch in our driveway that needs to be put in the flower beds…

He’s still working on trying to get our sad pitiful lawn to come back. But Mother Nature is giving us some beautiful blooms…..never knew we had cherry blossoms!
