Remember this chair?

I have a pair & they were once in my living room.

I never really loved the quatrefoil fabric on them so they’ve been recovered in a wonderful Chelsea Editions check ( that I only waited 5 MONTHS to receive!)

And they are now in my master bedroom sitting area

I’ve been wanting to get a small loveseat for up there & got super lucky when I found this on Craigslist!! It’s custom made with a nice linen upholstery & beautiful trim on the skirt

The coffee/end tables are from my living room as well. I think they’re a better scale for this smaller room ( I bought a new one for the living room)

My bed, dresser & nightstands are gone (sold them to a friend) so here is the current state of my bedroom. I also repainted. Although I loved the soft blue/green/gray color I had, it didn’t go well with the more taupey gray in the check fabric. The new color is similar without the greeny undertones. It’s Benjamin Moore Olympic Mountains
Sorry for the poor quality pic…the lighting wasn’t the best & this is the only pic I have right now

My mattresses are on the floor while I wait for my new iron canopy bed (to be delivered this Friday..yay!!) I ordered the one from Pottery Barn. Let’s hope I like it because I couldn’t see it in person since they don’t have it on the floor in any of their stores. I won’t like it if the iron feels cheap or hollow, but at least they have a great return policy. I’m hoping that won’t be necessary but we shall see. The painted nightstands are ones I got about 4-5 months ago and the bench was also recovered in the Chelsea check. I’ve switched out the curtains for just simple cream linen. I don’t want much pattern/color in here. don’t my new floors look awesome!
Remember the rooms that have been inspiring me?

The check will probably be my only real pattern in the room. Oh, and look what else I found that I couldn’t walk away from….

You know about my putti fetish! I couldn’t help myself….. You just don’t see these every day and this one was way too beautiful with all it’s patina to not bring it home. It will be hung in my bedroom somewhere.

I still need to find a chest or small sideboard to set the tv on in the sitting room. I’m holding out for something special. I would love a nice antique.
I’m also wanting a tall narrow chest of drawers for the wall opposite the bed. Theres not much wall space so it can’t be too wide. I’ve been drooling over this Swedish antique one but just can’t bring myself to spend the money right now with all the kitchen projects

Isn’t it gorgeous??
I will post soon on what’s been going on in the kitchen….
Have a great week everyone & God bless

Remember the antique French limestone mantel I had purchased shortly after moving into my new house?

Well….I have bad news! First, It was like pulling teeth to find someone skilled enough to know about the proper way it needed to be installed, and when I finally found someone, it was even harder getting him to come out and get the process started. After months of very frustrating calls and very few actual visits to my house, I got an estimate for installation……and let’s just say I was just sick about it!! It was going to cost as much to install as it was to purchase (& trust me, it wasn’t cheap!) So…….as much as it pains me to say this, the mantel will not be getting installed. I just cannot justify spending that much money on a mantel when I have so many ther things I need for this house, not the least of which is a new kitchen and master bath (& exterior paint job)

Soooooo…..if anyone’s interested I will be selling the mantel :(
But there’s also good news! My wonderful husband knew how badly I needed a mantel so we could hang this beautiful antique mirror I have above it….so he built me one! In a weekend! And it’s gorgeous!!! It will never be an antique mantel, but I love it nonetheless. It saved me a lot of money and it has such a presence in the room. I love the simple lines and chunky feel.

This was his template….

And in process…

And the beautiful finished mantel with my mirror…finally!!! Thanks hubs!

Now obviously this room looks different than the last time I posted it. Let me explain. I gave my dark velvet sofa to a friend who needed it, and ordered a new slipcovered sofa from Resoration Hardware. While waiting for the new sofa, I decided to play around with this room and I brought up two Ikea sofas ( one was in my basement & the other in my master bedroom sitting area). I’ve decided I like this look so much that I’m thinking I need to order another Resto sofa!! I also moved the pair of Swedish demi lunes to either side of the mantel….I’m loving all the symmetry! What do you think? A pair of sofas?

Or a sofa and two chairs?

Notice my putti found a new home…

A view of the other side of the room

The art is a piece I’ve had in my collection for about 12 years now and I still love it as much as when I first got it. A custom commissioned piece. Great art never goes out of style!

Now if I can get some drapes the room might actually start to look finished!
Hope everyone has a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving Day :)

Wow….it’s been so long since I’ve blogged about anything! It takes a lot of patience to put a post together (which I dont have much of! Lol) I thought I better update on some new changes before I get too far behind!
The family room has new bamboo blinds, the antique herbariums are hung as well as the television, and I got two adorable antique putti/cherubs from 1st Dibs. I have always had a thing for cherubs and love when I see them incorporated in a rooms design. These were a major splurge and I had wanted some for quite some time, so when I saw them I was in love! I felt so guilty after spending the money though that I gave my husband my credit cards and told him to hide them somewhere I’d never find them!

Isn’t he the cutest?? The other one went on the mantel

I love how the room is still plenty sunny but just not so intense, and I love all the texture these blinds add.

I’ve ordered a new coffee table as well

The Allie cocktail table by Lillan August here
I think the square shape will fit the space better. Can’t wait to see it in the room!
That’s it for now, there’s plentry more going on but I’ve got to save some for another post! Hope everyone is doing well and having a great weekend. The weather here is wonderful :)
